Dagestani athlete Paizutdin Aliyev suffered severe injuries attempting a flying armbar in a non-official Grappling Open World Cup event in St. Petersburg, Russia. Aliyev fell on his head, leading to a brain contusion, closed craniocerebral trauma, and a cervical vertebrae fracture with spinal cord damage. Tragically, these injuries left him paralyzed. The Ministry of Sports of Dagestan emphasized that the competition was unofficial.
