A disturbing video, not suitable for the faint-hearted, depicts a harrowing moment when a man faced a lion attack in a wildlife park. Shared on social media, the footage reveals the man being mauled and dragged by the lion after entering its enclosure, resulting in his critical condition.
The incident occurred at the Marakele Predator Park in South Africa, as reported by DailyMail. The individual, believed to be the park’s owner, ventured into the enclosure to investigate an unusual smell, according to BBC. Onlookers can be heard screaming for help as the lion attempts to pull the man further into the enclosure. Only when shots are fired does the lion release the man and retreat to another part of the enclosure.
As per The Sun, the man remains in critical condition, and the lion has been euthanized following the horrifying attack.
Initially, the lion was walking away from the man in the opposite direction. Suddenly, the man starts running, with the lion in pursuit. Despite the man’s attempt to escape the enclosure, the lion swiftly catches and drags him away.
This incident comes nearly two months after a similar lion attack during Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Spring Festival. A six-month-old lion cub, confined in a cage for children to interact with, cornered a little girl. Fortunately, the animal trainer intervened, rescuing the girl with only minor cuts and bruises.
