Five Killed in Cidra Shooting Puerto Rico

A security camera captured a tragic shooting on Tuesday in Cidra, Puerto Rico, that left five people dead and one injured. The incident took place outside a business in the Certenejas neighborhood, located south of San Juan. This marks the eleventh massacre in Puerto Rico this year.

The victims were identified as Jonathan O’Neill Ortiz Castrodad, also known as “Onix,” 27; Andrรฉs Manuel Bonilla Rivera, 38; Sebastiรกn Figueroa Camacho, 28; Josรฉ M. Delgado Rivers, 24; and Bryan Alvarez Carriรณn, 24. According to police, Onix was the target of the hitmen. The victims were believed to be involved in two recent murders in Cidra. All were armed and tried to defend themselves during the attack, which left nearly 200 bullet casings at the scene.

In response to the massacre, Police Commissioner Antonio Lรณpez formed a special investigation team on Wednesday. This team consists of experienced agents from various units, including Homicide, Criminal Intelligence, Major Crimes, Drugs, and the Criminal Information Collection and Dissemination Center (CRDIC). The goal is to quickly and efficiently share information to solve the case.

Lรณpez noted that there has been a pattern of violent incidents around bars and businesses that serve alcohol, especially those operating late at night. The police have identified areas with high crime rates and are planning targeted interventions in those locations.

Lรณpez emphasized that tackling the crime problem is a responsibility shared by the entire community, not just the police.
