Stabbing Incident on Bus in Siegen, Germany Leaves Five Injured

The bus, carrying approximately 40 passengers, was en route when the attack occurred.

The assailant, identified as a 32-year-old woman, was promptly arrested at the scene. Authorities have clarified that there is no indication that the attack was motivated by terrorism. The city of Siegen, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, has seen a significant police response to manage the situation.

Emergency services, including chaplains, are providing support to the shocked passengers. The investigation has been taken over by the Dortmund police, who are leading efforts to understand the motives behind the attack.

Police have urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, particularly regarding any terrorist connections, and to allow the investigation to proceed without hindrance.

Safety measures even before the city festival

In recent days, the district police authority had already implemented further measures at short notice to improve the security situation at the city festival. For example, eleven people were banned from staying and entering the area for the entire inner city area in Siegen. Dangerous objects and weapons are prohibited at the city festival. The city of Siegen, as the organizer, has made use of its house right and tightened the rules, it was announced in advance.
